DTG Pretreat/Printing Issue

Hi,

We are having some serious issues trying to print hoodies with our Gt381. I have tried 4 different brand hoodies. Gildan G185, Hanes F170, American Apparel 5495 and a AsColour 5102. I am getting the same result with all of them which leads me to believe this is a pre treat issue. We are using the PretreatMaker IV. Running about 30 grams using a fine brush to spread the pretreat evenly and running maybe another 15 grams also brushing. FULL cure in the heat press but I see these little pinhole/fisheyes in between locking the press back down. They're barely visible once the shirt goes into the printer but when the first coat of white goes down there they're. I attaching the design on 2 different brand hoodies so you can see. Those little fisheyes in the white are the issue. Thanks in advance.

Try using the Citadel brand sweatshirts. They have a cotton face on the outside which gives you great dtg prints. We're now using them exclusively for sample prints both in-house and at trade shows because they print so nicely.

Hoodies have been frustrating for me as well, thanks for the tip. I have a freeet 330tx and I am still learning the ins and outs. I actually just looked at your website after seeing image armour pretreat. I have been using the direct ink pretreat, and while I can get great prints and washability on certain garments, it seems a bit all over the place. A little too much and it washes out, too little and I get a dull print. I have stuck with it because I am new and need the trial and error experience but isdirect ink pretreat quality something to be questioned? I have had no success with a hoodie that I would feel comfortable selling to a customer so will definitely be checking out the citadel stuff.

I see you are doing the pretreat process twice, first 30g second 15. Are you dying the fabric before doing the second pretreat?

The photo shows that the fabric was wet, on the inside of the thicker fabric, before printing. (dark areas of the white)

Try doing the pretreating process a day before you need to print on the fabric.
Nope, the first 30-brush-15-brush-cure. Will try pretreating a day before and letting it fully dry.

Thanks
I have the same issue,it's 100% due tu image armour pretreat,I'm 1000% sure. Can you sue Image Armor because they sell bad products?

We actually use the Brother Pre-treat. We used Image Armor for a little while, made a great print but it had such a strong smell so we quit using it.

Yes Bebe you are 100% problem because if you have a problem with the pretreat then you can choose another pretreat to use.

It's not so easy to find another pretreat brand. Here in Europa,Image Armor is the only one I suppose.Maybe you can help me with a suggestion for a new pretreat brand here in Europa!!

I am not too familiar with how things work in Europe and I also don't know if Pre-treat is Printer specific. Look into using the Brother Pre-treat. Has worked very well for us.

You can check: FireBird or DuPont Artistri, these two are probalby more popular in Europe than IA...
Thanks zerg71 for the tip.I will check on google.com about FireBird and DuPont Artistri. It's very strange that I haven't google.com among my browsers!! Maybe it not be found in Europe but only in the USA!!
