Has anyone ever used Dow Corning Silicone printing ink? Sounds good but cant find any distributors or people that have used it.
Hmmmm. Used to use similar products in another industry. Something I'd ask the vendor or Dow would be on contamination. Once you use Silicone Ink would that screen stay a "Silicone ONLY" screen? I'm sure they've come along way but once upon a time once Silicone got into our system it was tough to make it go away.

What is the application you're after?

Did you ever figure this out. We used to have colour fastness issues with making paint and Dow Silicone. The Silicone would migrate and take some of the pigment with it. Really a pain to work with. Some one recommended we go with a multicoat to get the properties. 1 coat color followed by a 2nd clear coat of the material that gave the "silicone or teflon properties"

Never did find out anymore about it. I am using low cure additive to keep temp down and it seems to be working. Trying to get the correct drying temp is a time consuming task as to hot dye migrates not hot enough ink cracks and washes off. I find that dialing in my dryer to 300 plus or minus 5 degrees using a thermoprobe (doughnut) seems to be the ticket.

I just got a sample of silicone based ink for screen printing from my Nazdar rep, its AMAZING! it is a 2 part system that has a 48hour shelf life once mixed. It has a cure temp of 250 degrees, that is 20 degrees lower than the sublimation point of polyester. It has great elasticity that is comparable to a spandisol and a high opacity. You don't even need to use an under base. The downside: $130 a gallon, this does not bother me in the least, its a small price to pay for the the quality. The feel of this ink is the next best thing to dye sub ( obviously you can feel the print, but its nothing compared to a standard plastisol or poly ink.

If you don't want to spend the money, and still want to control the sublimation and dye migration that comes with polyester garments. I recommend One Stroke Smart White. Its an extremely bright white plastisol (320 cure) but it controls dye migration better than anything and is easy to shear, unlike ploy ink, this is nice and creamy.

Call One Stroke (1-800-942-4447 and ask to speak with Dave Wilson, tell him David Higgins referred you.

If you are interested in the silicone base from Nazdar, Call John McQuilkin 1-800-677-4657 (tell him Dave Higgins referred you)

I've used it, in the form of the Nazdar ImageStar product that uses Dow as the base. It's absolutely amazing. The problem is getting my hands on it, and when I can get my hands on it... it's expensive.
