What do you look for in a hosting company?

I've got domains at the moment with several companies

123 - Reg
UKReg (Fasthosts)
Go Daddy

I was mainly using UKReg but my web guy advised me from using them as they charge per database and i've got several domains I want to run a shop from so I got a Go Daddy hosting package to try them

123-reg domain I got ages ago when I was giving DecoNetwork a go

I'm fed up paying £20 odd a month per hosting company so need to pick one or a new one and stick to it rather than paying money for something i'm not using

Want to start offering domains & hosting to some customers so don't want to start that when I'm not sure who's best to use

For e-comm I'm going to try using magento because apparently I can run several shops from the one database?

I've recently been looking into domain registration and hosting too:

Top 10 UK Web Hosting Firms - Reviews of Best 10 Website Hosting Sites

iPage, JustHost, and Fatcow seem to come up as the top 3 on most if not all of these sorts of lists, but the exact order may differ which tells me all 3 are probably equally good.

I'm considering iPage because they are 100% wind powered (which I think is a big deciding factor).

Hi
I'm currently using Smartyhost. Only an information site as yet but they do offer e-commerce sites. I think it costs me about $40 to $50 per year. Of course there are limits. One problem is that there is limited site designs available. Mine looks pretty ordinary but it had a crsh recently (probably my doing) and I have been working slowly getting it to look Ok again.
