Does this price seem low, or typical

I bid a job against one other company and lost by quite a bit. It was a simple one color two side job and the winning bid came in at $4.05 with $20 screen charges. That comes to $4.31 a shirt. I am not a screen printer. Does this seem low, or typical if you do your own screen printing. I just need to see if my printers prices are where they should be, or maybe I need to start doing my own one color jobs.

one color, sport gray shirts front and back.
Yes, including the cost of the shirt.
ridiculously cheap, i wouldn't even bother trying to compete price wise with that. if you dont mind pm me who is doing it for that price we aren't located too far apart and i would be interested in knowing, but dont want to give them any free ad space. thanks
I would be charging about $1.50 more than what the winning bid was. If I may ask, what did you bid?

I went with $5.25. I would have needed to just spend a little time tweaking some easy art, then send it to the printer. No way though to get down to that price.
I would have been $5.15 per shirt.
Is that with you doing the printing?
Yeah...if they were wholesale I would have printed a little cheaper.

This was for a High School

Yeah I am saying that if I was selling them to you for resale then I would have charged more of a wholesale price to you. If I was selling to the high school I would have charged $5.15. Also you have to watch for customers shooting low just to get you to go low.
Well, I'm hoping I forced this guy to go so low he didn't make much money. I did 150 shirts 2 color two sides for the same school for July 4th where I actually made decent money so I don't feel too bad.
