Hello everyone. I'm in the position where I kind of have one foot in hobby screen printing and one in business. I just started a few months ago with a basic speedball kit for fun and I've now done two jobs and have more lining up. I made my own printing press with 35 bucks worth of materials, but I am now realizing it is not as reliable as I need it to be, mostly with registration for doing "print flash print" white onto darker shirts. I haven't attempted multi-color prints yet because of this.

So now I'm in the market for a table top 2 or 4 color press. I don't see myself getting into the screen printing business fulltime as I have other endeavors, but it's fun to do and I am getting some promising side business from it. So I don't want to go all out and can't really afford to spend a lot of money on a press. I figured I'd go with a 4 color 1 station because from what I've seen, the price jump from 2 color to 4 color really isn't much so might as well have the 4 color capability.

I found a tabletop 4 color - 1 station press on Atlas Screen Supply for $335 with free shipping. It's made by Home Based Equipment. I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with this brand. I'm wondering about it because that one and the ryonet silver press are the only 4-1's that are around that price. The workhorse Odyssey 4100B 4-1 and some other brands I've seen recommended are all around $1500 so I was wondering why there is such a huge price difference. I'm not ready to spend that much for something I'm not going to be doing full time really.

Any recommendations for table top presses would be great too. Thanks!

Quick additional questions. What is the advantage to having 2 stations instead of 1? Sorry I'm still a newbie but if you were printing multiple colors, you would have to keep the shirt on the one station when switching colors to get perfect registration right? So what's the advantage of having two stations?

Also, I don't think the Home Based Equipment one on Atlas Screen Supply has micro-registration. How hard or time consuming is it to register without it? I've read it's possible, but never having done multi-colors, I don't have any experience to know if it would be reasonable or a huge headache. Thanks!

I'm pretty happy with Atlas screen supply. I only went to them because i could not get a call back from my prior supplier after leaving a few messages. I saved hundreds on the conveyor dryer I bought and they have good service from my experience. They have been in business for many years so i would say it's a pretty safe bet.
