What's your hardware? Coreldraw 11 for Mac was only compatible with PowerPC processors.

Otherwise you can use the PC version with Bootcamp or Parallels with a Windows license on your mac.

OS X 10.6.4

i am guessing that my computer (OS) is too new for the software?

Correct. Coreldraw for Mac does not work on the Mac intel chip.
