I know anajet says to leave the printer on all the time and I am assuming that is so it can run the automatic head cleanings every x hours and that seems like a good idea if you are running white ink. But if you use your printer every day and are just running dual cmyk, wouldn;t it be better to shut it off every night so the print heads "parks".
I am under the impression that epsons don;t really park the print head and seal it until you power down, which helps prevent clogs and if it is left on all the time, its never really properly parked. I always shut my tjets off at night and almost never get clogs or do head cleanings...so I am not sure why it would be better to keep the anajets on, unless they are talking about white ink users...
Plus anajet says to always turn the printer off on the LCD display first, before pwering down in the back so theprint head can properly seat itself...so if it does really seel itself when you power down, doesn;t that imply that when its just idle its NOT properly seated?
Or am I completely off base in assuming that when you power down is when the head is properly parked?
Thanks in advance!

I would say you would be fine turning it off if only using cmyk, if you have a problem then do a head clean but I can't imagine it would hurt but I cannot say on the anajet because we use white ink but on the brother we turn it off until we are ready to print and have never had a problem, same as your t-jets I would think.

Maybe someone that only uses the cmyk will come along:)

Thanks...I turned it off tonight. I'll let you all know how things go with that.
But if someone does know for sure if the print head parks for real when you turn it off versus just keeping it on and idle I'd love to know.
I have to image there is a difference or else it would be just fine to shut off the main power first or use a power strip to turn it off/on rather than having to power down the print head first so it parks correctly...right?

In looking at how the head lays into the capping station, I do not see it as any difference. However I believe that when you shut things down with the front panel it will "spit" a little into the capping area just before it seats. If you are CMYK only, this probably isn't a problem...but with white ink and it's propensity to gel and settle this may not not a good idea. Personally, I'll leave mine on, unless I'm going to backflush and be gone for several days. In that case I'll flood the capping station (after cleaning everything really good) and shut it down.
