Do you have to register a keyword for your website? If so or even if I wanted to how would I go about doing this? I have a company in asia who has a client that apparantly wants to register a domain name and keyword that are pretty much identical to mine. I already have my domain name and website set up and it has been for over a year so I'm a little confused as to why I am being asked to register my domain name and keyword. I'm assuming that since it is in a different country that I must register it over there? Can anyone clarify this for me?

Register with who? What do you mean keyword? Are you referring to keywords you put in your webpage for search engine optimization?

You don't have to "register" your domain name with different countries. Once its set up in the country you set it up in, you are done. Nor do you have to register search keywords.

You may want to read the following book: Get to the Top on Google by David Vinney. He explains solid methods for SEO. As for registering keywords, there is no place to do this. All websites have the same ability to use similar keywords.

thats exactly what I though. I should not have to register a keyword but they have a third party who wants to use my store domain name but instead of .com its .uk or something cause they are in a different location. The ISP or whoever they are sent me some form to use to register my "keyword" and domain name with them......I was and still am a lil angry that some company wants to be www.shoprosenthorn.uk especially when I already own www.shoprosenthorn.com:confused:

That's the nature of the beast. If you want to prevent this kind of thing, then you should register .net, .org, .biz, .info, etc. to lock up all variations of your .com address.

Unless you are operating in the United Kingdom, i wouldn't worry too much about the .uk one.
