what do i need to have (resellers permit, business #, etc.) to buy wholesale? (canada)

I want to buy off americanapparel and/or tscapparel and im missing something to do it. in other words what do i need to do to be legit for selling t-shirts in canada and buy wholesale from the U.S. and Canada.

Much appreciated,
In Ontario, you need a BIN (business ID #) which covers GST and PST which is now HST. Tax ID is the same as the BIN or GST#. Hope that makes sense! CA #'s are for manufacturing relabeling only.
You should be able to set up a wholesale account with anybody with the GST/BIN number in any province.
Depends where you are.....IN BC you need to be registered as a proprietorship, partnership or corporation...You can apply for a Business Number if you need to but it is not required unless you sell over 50,000.00 per year, have payroll or import.....
Is the process relatively easy to do? What info do you have to provide to them, and is involved? Anyone gone through it and has any tips or advice? (I'm in NS, Canada.)
You might find some helpful info at Welcome Page | Page d'accueil -- requirements vary by province.

Royce, living in BC, has to register provincially in all cases; here in NL, you only have to register provincially if you're incorporating.

At the federal level, you're usually not required to register unless you make more than a certain amount of money each year (although there are some exceptions).
I don't know if you have all the info you need for this thread or not but I will share my two sense.

I'm in Ontario and what I've learned (specifically for American Apparel) is when they are asking you for your "vendor permit number" that "vendor permit" no longer exists.

A vendor permit number is now only an HST number. This is new. I had a hell of a time going around in circles until this was explained to me after calling Revenue Canada a few times to clear up the confusion.

Revenue Canada even has yet to update their website concerning the now obsolete vendor permit. There is a form to download to apply for one, but they will not process it because it no longer exists.

It's true that you don't need to get an HST number (GST and HST have combined and is now only HST) unless you bring in $30,000 a year or more. However, you can still get your HST number without earning $30,000 and you can use it for things such as wholesale accounts.

And of course your business number :) Once you register your business you will get one.

I hope this helps!

Peace :)
