Do i need a postscript programme? I have Photoshop CS3 and an Epson 1400..

Can anyone give advice on this i am clueless when it comes to postscript...
I want to print haltones for positives (as well as spot colour positives) and eventually print for sublimation, could i use my Epson 1400 to print positives, sublimation and for general printing?? sorry if this sounds confusing, i am confused!! :S
