so my hix swingman 15 lower platen is "squishy/rubbery" not solid/hard..this is the first press ive had or seen in my life so im not sure if all lowers are soft like this..


so the ? is, if my lower is rubbery, like its maybe quater to half inch, do i neeed a pillow over zippers and seams?

Yes, the platen is somewhat soft. I would definitely recommend using a pillow when encountering seams, buttons, zippers, etc.
