Hi, I'm new to this and really upset right now- after having done my research, I purchased a George Knight DK20S off Craigs List (stand and equipment for $1,000) and brought it home two weeks ago. I could kick myself because it looked to be in great shape from an orderly place so I felt the sellers were being honest with me in saying it was in fine operating condition. It looked great, (the pad, the plate etc) so I didn't turn it on then to see if it worked correctly. But when I turned it on today after reading the owners manual twice, I'm getting no read-out on the pressure (0-9) so I can't tell if I have enough pressure, too little or what... It pressed the sample I tried, but can you tell me where I can go to get this looked at, (do they make house calls), or any suggestions I may try? I'm in the DFW TX area. Thanks so much in advance for your help.

call digital knight themselves they have great customer service...

what you might try doing first is open up the back cover (unplugged of course) make sure all the plugs are in.. I recently worked on my DK20 and closed it all up and found out one of the plugs came loose its really crammed in there so be careful.

Thank you so much for your response. I did do that after reading the manual again, (I saw the electronics schematics) and everything seemed to be connected tightly and properly. So I guess I'll be placing a call to Geo Knight tomorrow. Ann

So it's not critical to have the 'proper pressure' when heat pressing a t shirt? I was thinking it's kinda like a recipe and if you don't have the exact 'ingredients', you'll screw it up... It sounds as though I can get by without the pressure read out then...right? Is there a time when you really want to know the pressure exerted? Thanks so much for your help! Ann

There are too many various items we do to fool with that. We set each job up as we do it.

I would find out about getting it fixed though. Also, the timer beeper goes out on those, check that out too. It is an easy part to replace.

take a look at the pad too. if it is irregular then get a replacement. it should be completely flat.

I have a DK-20 with auto-open. It has no pressure guage and I just go by feeling. I have never had a problem once you get used to it. To me, the major thing is how even the temp is on the upper platten. That can give you more problems than being a little off on the pressure.
