I'm making a washout booth from the innards of a fridge I got free from the dump. It has quite a few holes, but I'm going to cover those with roof sealer tape. I've used that stuff on my RV and it's amazing. I'm going to make a tub area in it by adhesive caulking what used to be part of the freezer along the bottom front.

It has aluminum shelves that can go in three places, so that'll be what I rest the screens on. I may cover one with screen to make a catcher for emulsion. It also has a low spot at the bottom meant to catch spills I guess, so I'll drill that out and install some sort of drain flange. Underneath will be a spot for the pressure washer. The backlight is going to be an incandescent bulb covered by a jar. Hopefully this will work okay. If it doesn't, I'll cut out a rectangle and use plexiglass and fluorescent.

It'll have a hose connection on the back for the water source, and that will be plumbed inside with CPVC to go to the pressure washer and also just a regular garden hose. On the left side will be light switches for the light and the pressure washer. I think the drain is just going to be a hose to my floor drain.

I finished today and it works just fine! I sort of wish I'd waited to find a wider fridge, but it's plenty big enough for a 20x24 and an even larger one would fit if tilted a bit. To catch bits of emulsion, I covered the lowest shelf with window screen. It can easily be removed for cleaning. The light in a jar contraption works fine. It's not a nice diffused light, but it gets the job done. It's all very self-contained and doesn't take up tons of room. Minus the pressure washer, I think my total cost is about $75 (plus quite a bit of time, but I love building things so I don't mind).
