This is a DIY (super easy) project. I think I finally found the easiest/cheapest way to hold as many screens while still looking sweet and being movable like the professional racks.

These racks normally cost $250+ (hold 20 screens) +shipping with other screen printing distributors.

I spent less than that and hold triple the screens

First you need:

Regency 20" x 26" x 69" End Load Bun Pan Rack (Unassembled)

Then you need to buy 16 washers and 8 longer bolts. (in picture)

You only need the longer steel rods and attach them to the tops and bottoms of the racks with washers on both sides of the bolt to extend the rods to fit a screen perfectly.

Yup! Now you can hold 3x amount for same price as screen printing retailers racks. No need to by wood, screws or any of that hassle.

I dont want to sound to stupid..

Im confused as to why you need longer bolts? Wouldn't a screen still fit with the regular screws that come with the rack?

Because the rods go thru the rack about 1". So when you put the washers on both sides of bolt it prevents it from going thru that 1" so you need to extend in order to reach rods. If you watch the tutorial of how to put together that bun rack you can see. it is made to fit 18" screens, so its needs to be extended 2" somehow to fit the 20" screens.

you can also buy them on craiglist or go to a local baker,hotel and banquet kitchens and find them sitting outside. oops let the secret out.

I know this is a late post... but im trying to do this and having a really tough time finding the appropriate size bolts and washers to make this fit a 20x24" screen. Can anyone who has done this with this same rack help me out? It would be much appreciated!!

I'm in the same boat. I really wish I hadn't bought this. I cannot find a screw long enough to fit and have been to both Lowe's and Home Depot numerous times.

I just bought one of these last week, best $90 I have spent on screen printing equipment. Thinking of buying several more soon.

I took the u channels and just flipped them around then used 1/2" washers for spacers on the bottom, took about 10 per side.

I will take pictures when I get home. Piece of cake and better than spending $300 on a rack that is essentially the same thing from a screen print supplier.

Go to an ACE hardware or a Fastenal. Take one of each size bolt with you, they are metric. I don't remember the sizes off the top of my head. You will need to buy the same size and thread pitch of each one but add an inch in length maybe longer on the bigger bolts. Be prepared I believe I spent 20 to 25 dollars in bolts alone....get washers also.

I received my Bun Rack this week and its great, thanks for the great tip.

The bolts are available in Home Depot, they normally have a cabinet in the hardware isle with pull out drawers that have specialist fasteners.

The sizes you need are Metric - available in different lengths

M6-1.0 small bolts $0.70 each in my home depot
M10-1.5 larger bolts $2.78 each

Those are the one that fit my Bun Rack of course YMMV

There are cheaper imperial bolt sizes which do fit however they have fine pitch threads, and unfortunately don't seem to be carried at HD
