Hi and thanks for all for helping me out.
So here is the issue.
I have my designs done in photoshop and they all have distressed cracks in them. (behind the cracks it's transparent)
The problem is that my screen printer wants a vector file and now I am confused how to turn my designs to a vector format that keeps its distress look.
What I have done is turn the non-distressed designs into a vector file using vectormagic, and it looks good. But then after I open this in illustrator I am stuck, I don't know how to get ahead.
In Photoshop I can just apply the distress layer, highlight the parts and then delete those parts from the bottom layer and then it's all done.
Is there something similar I can do in illustrator?

Add a distressed layer over the top of the art and make it the same color as the "background" or Shirt color. You can always "knockout" the art with distressed vector but it can take some time depending on colors and intricacy of the art.

good luck.

Here's how I do it: I scanned a roughed up piece of carbon paper (there are a zillion other ways to get the effect, including downloading textures from the web). In PS, make the image grayscale and adjust the levels so that it is all black and white. Save it as a bitmap. Open it in AI, copy and paste it on to your artwork (doesn't necessarily have to be on it's own layer, just make sure it is on top or in front of your art). While it is selected, change it to your shirt/background color. Viola! Hope this helps.

How would one do this in CorelDraw?
