I have my own embroidery business and I have been digitizing my own designs. I see companies that advertise digitizing, what exactly does that mean. I guess my question is, do they just make it a vector file or do they actually turn an image into the embroidery file?
My husband asked me last night why I didn't use these services as I'm getting very busy with the rest of my business. So please tell me what these services offer and if there are any that you would recommend for embroidery.

Thanks

It means to convert jpg, gif or other format to Embroidery machine readable format which is a stitch file. Format depends on which machine you are using, these can be EMB, PES, DST, CND, EXP, POF, HUS, ART format etc.

Many digitizer are on this forum including me who offer free design to test quality, so you have nothing to loose in this, Prices of outsourcing are also good ones and this can save you good amount of time.

Thanks, I wasn't exactly sure what it would be since I have never outsourced it. And the TIME, is exactly the point my husband was trying to get to, if business continues to grow like it is, I won't have time to spend 2 hours on digitizing a design and if I can outsource it for the rates he has seen advertized why not have it outsourced. Thanks, I will keep you in mind on my next design. :D

or get a system (computer and software) dedicated to digitizing and your husband can do it while you're busy with the embroidery itself. :)
if that was his option, he'd rather pay someone to do it LOL!! Thanks though :)
I enjoy digitizing and creating the designs. I am self taught, so I can see some of the first designs I did and the designs I do now and it's like wow....what a difference LOL. I've learned alot along the way and now that I'm rhinestoning, and learning corel draw, I'm learning even more about my digitizing program and the funcationallity of it all...and I'm like a kid in a candy store right now LOL.

the best way to learn software besides taking a couple of courses at a comm college (good luck finding classes for corel draw) is by buying a good book which has you learn the ins and outs of all the tools and such by doing and completing projects that would face you in everyday biz.

i never got the 'watch these tutorials' thing. how are you supposed to follow along with a video playing on your monitor and some guy flying along doing tasks at 3x the speed of light.

meanwhile open a book and you can put it right next to your keyboard and it's there for you to see and follow at your own pace. not some grand wizard's idea of showing off his skills.
