There are two programs used by DTG Digital printers worldwide. DTG Digital is made up of a group of distributors that want to sell and support that specific line of dtg printers. They are not all the same one company. Each company can choose either RIP software they want. Most of the printers sold in North America (and surrounding countries) are sold with RIP Pro. In Europe and Australia, they are sold with Print Pro. Not sure which software is sold in the other countries.

Although I have not played with Print Pro in a long time, the primary difference back then was Print Pro is a "print from" application that requires the user to import the artwork into the RIP and print it from there. RIP Pro started off as a "print to" application that had the user print directly from a graphic software program (i.e. CorelDraw, Photoshop,...). Over a year ago, RIP Pro added a print from application as well. RIP Pro also has a production run feature in the RIP as well. I am sure that there are other differences between the two RIP software programs as well.

Hope this explains some things for you. Best wishes with your printer.

Also, Print Pro requires a dongle whereas Rip Pro does not..

There is other programs out there.. Print Jockey, Multi Rip

Welcome to DTGInks.com
option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=74

from what I read SWF used Print Pro and Rip Pro but when it came down to selecting one they went with Rip Pro.. you can research the forums and Don from SWF East explains their choices.

We have had Rip Pro v04 for the past two years and in the beginning it wasn't the greatest but the latest update has been great. Our colors are more vivid and it Rips jobs faster and with ease.

I recently purchased another DTG Kiosk 2 that came with a computer and PrintPro they had to sell me the computer because the software was on there and the dongle was needed. It seems like with Print Pro its more of hassle to install the software. I have 3 licenses with my Rip Pro and have it on 3 different computers so if anyone of them goes down I have a back up. If you broke the dongle then you wouldn't be able to print.

Just to clarify something, Printer Jockey (www.printerjockey.com) is not a printing software program. It is a maintenance utility to help keep your printer running better and will help clear some clogging issues, but you can't use it to send artwork to a dtg printer.

There are several programs out there. Some are the same just with different names / brands.
Multi rip gp and Rip pro are the same, I believe. Fast artists / Fast rip is older version of EZ Artitist EZ Rip. EK Rip I Believe is used by Anajet. Each has pros and cons. Suggest you use a trail version first and check on the tech support offered by each. If they have a driver for the Epson model that your printer is based on it should work. i,e, 1800, 2200, 1900. I use two different ones basically Multi Rip GP and Fast Artist/Rip. MRGP has excellent tech support and great training videos.

Another clarifier, Multirip GP is a generic version of RIP Pro. It does not have all the specific drivers of RIP Pro and DTG specific functions that we have added to the software. It will conflict with RIP Pro if you install them on the same system.
Don is correct that they are similar products. However, DTG Digital has a couple of new printers that require special coding in order to drive the printer properly that are not in MRGP. So it is not a valid alternative for those printers. It will also not work with the Mod-1 printer that uses the similar software, but with its own unique code for specific things.

Mark (bilet69) what are you wanting to do?
nothing peticular, was having some issues that seem to be resolved somewhat. so i was maybe gonna try another prog if it were a option.

was still having the comunication problems.
right now i have the covers off my machine, and printer cable is plugged directly into the mother board. not failed me once!!!!!

i might just reroute the cable and do away with the buccaneer and mid cable! just one cable from comp to motherboard like it is now.

sure rips faster i have noticed that.

thanks everyone
