Hi can someone explain why the mesh counts are different here in the UK than US. When I read the forums it is mostly in the 100's upwards in the US, but in the UK we seem to start at 15 up to no higher than 140 sometimes.Do they have a different way of making their screens or something. Also Im a bit unsure of the meanings when regarding halftone work with different screens, this is regarding angles, working out the best lines of dots to go on the best lines of thread to getting the best dot overlay on multicolour jobs.
Can anyone help:)

The difference in mesh counts is purely due to metric/imperial measurements. In the UK we use threads per centimeter where as in the US they use threads per Inch. There are conversion charts on the internet.

A mesh of 120t (UK) and above is what I use for half tones and CMYK prints.
