Difference in print hand based on shirt?

911 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  horrorjunkie33
So I requested a couple samples from the Espon F2000 a few months ago using one of my one designs. My design was printed on ringspun cotton tees and the 2 prints came out really good and had a very nice hand to it. So nice In fact that I really started considering purchasing this printer. Then I saw the new Espon F2100 was being rolled out and wanted to see how these prints look. I sent in 2 more designs for samples on the new F2100 and these prints were done on standard cotton Gildan 2000s and while the prints look good the hand was much more of a transfer feel. Felt cheap. I am just wondering If the feel of the print changes that drastically depending on the type of shirt used? Any help and or feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hello,
Yes the quality of the t-shirt plays a lot on the print, especially in digital.
I have 9 years of experience in direct digital printing on textiles.
We currently do dye sublimation, but I am looking at doing cotton towels. What would you recommend as far a s printer goes?. We wholesale, so I don't want the crafter answers. I need to handle a large volume.

Thanks in Advance!

To print multiple copies of the same design on to many items, your best option is always screen print. One would use white towels and use special inks. I believe they are water based inks for towels. I handle plastisol ink and it is not for towles or textured items we don't use water based inks.

That is the cheapest. You could get your own automatic screen press.
Hello,
I recommend kornit, me it is 9 years that I am in the direct digital printing on textile essential on t shirt, currently I have 1 kornit avalanche 1000 and 2 storm.
to make mass printing the 1000 avalance is the quick after there is the vulcan at kornit but I do not know if really suitable for towels
Thank you for all the replies. So standard cotton will Tees will leave a thicker Ink deposit because it requires more pre-treat than a ringspun cotton Tee? Just want to make sure I am understanding this correctly. The feel on a standard cotton tee was so much thicker and felt more like a cheap transfer. I definitely don't want that.
