I have a new unmixed Ryonet Pink Diazo Photopolymer Dual Cure Direct Emulsion 1 Quart And decided to divide t in half to leave one half unused.

I'm opening the new unmixed emulsion when I accidentally pour half of the sensitizer(with water) in the whole emulsion!

So I try to remove the top of the emulsion to another empty jar without mixing to try to remove the sensitizer. The majority is out and I don't plan on using this half of emulsion for a while, but is it fine if I leave it alone like that? Will the emulsion be affected? There is not much in there but I am wondering if it will last about (unmixed for a year) or when mixed(2-3months) I left it in the refrigerator

I did not mix the emulsion but can I leave it alone with the little remaining sensitizer in it?

Opinions and feedback most certainly welcome thanks so much

I don't know if it can be divided up like that. Once the diazo is mixed with water you have to use it all. It would be best just to mix it all together. The dual cure lasts for a long time mixed and if you keep it in the fridge it could last longer than the 3 months.

We do not recommend splitting emulsion like that, though we have customers that do it. Our advice to them if they must do it, is to weigh the powder, and cut that in half. Weigh the liquid emulsion, cut that in half. The trick here is to find the proper amount of distilled water to add. Using distilled water will extend the life of the emulsion, as well as storing it in a refrigerator as noted above.

I agree with the previous post, where you are at now it would be best to just mix the whole thing. It is important to be as exact and scientific as you can (you should wear a white lab coat and safety glasses) when dividing emulsion this way, since there is a certain amount of sensitzer to mix properly into a certain amount of emulsion. Throwing this ratio out of balance can yield detrimental results in the effectiveness of how the emulsion performs.
