Detailed Sleeve Size Specs

I've finally got a medium sized tee as my prototype that is perfect when it comes to the sleeve size specs -

Length: 8.5 in
Opening - 6.5 in
Underarm - 3.5 in

Now, I was wondering how that would scale with each size? Looking at the American Apparel size chart, the length increases by about half an inch as you go up in size, but stays the same for L and XL. They don't have any mention regarding the sleeve opening or underarm though. Do those also scale with the size or stay constant? I was thinking of just increasing them by half an inch as well as the size goes up but am worried it might end up disproportionate.

Would be a great help if someone could let me know the norm when it comes to scaling the sleeve opening and underarm or point me in the direction of a size chart that lists those as well.

Thanks in advance.

Hi K,
If the size is Large then it is a bit tricky whoever listed you this size cause

If the upper Length is: 8.5 in
Opening - 6.5 in it should be 6 inces
Underarm - 3.5 inches it should be 4 inches ideally to retain its ideal shape over all type of muscular & non musc arms.
you should also take care of armhole too.

in standard large to xl the underarms seam to seam is usually increased by 1 inch with the half inch increase in length that make it another size.

hope it will help you clear the concept, as far as size chart is concern i develop it according to latest fashion with continuous changes in fitting styles, ex: i will change mine after the Paris fashion week, it requires observation of the latest trends in smart fits, slims, muscle, regular etc. consult your manufacturer for detailed sketch of it.

Thanks for the reply. Actually the underarm is 4 inches, that was my mistake. What about the opening? Would that also increase by half an inch as the size goes up?
Nope opening remains the same until you add another x into xl.
