Hello guys,

I would recommend at a minimum purchasing Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop. If you don't have any experience using them, then it may be a little difficult at first, but nothing that Youtube and some determination won't fix. I have a B.F.A. in graphic design, so I learned most of it in college.

so being a beginner would it be good to buy the cs6 package or just illustrator and photoshop?

You can usually get a better deal purchasing the whole creative suite, but I would imagine that you are only using the software to create designs for t-shirts and do color separations, so you would only really need Illustrator and Photoshop. You can usually download a trial version for free and see if you like it. Adobe - Downloads

I would probably go with this suite if I had the cash. Design software | Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard You can always hire a graphic designer to help you design at first or contract them out and look over their shoulder to learn the software yourself. Graphic designers are pretty easy to come by, so that may be an option for you too.
