I am new in the business and have only made a few shirts for my kids so far, which turned out excellent. I am looking to target childrens custom shirts such as cutr pictures and the possibly putting names and phrases on them..Just curious what programs are the more popular ones for creating text and so forth.

Also curious on a great site/program which might have several choices for clipart(that will not infringe on copyright), such as kid related pics..FIreman, Policeman, Balls, Balloons, Sports, Etc....

Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated in ADVANCE!!!!

Thanks
So
Much!!!

Google inkscape and gimp - these two programs should get you started. They are both free, open source applications.

The Adobe suite of programs is the standard in the design industry, with Illustrator and Photoshop being the equivalents of inkcape and gimp, respectively.

Corel Draw also seems to be a popular application among artists doing work for apparel.

Also, please take some time to read through this highlighted sticky at the top of the graphics and design forum:
