Does your company do something, make/sell a product? (Your own company merch is NOT a product.)

I ask because I couldn't see the front art well enough in the image to tell what it is about, so can't comment on the effectiveness of it. The back art is intended to be on dark shirts, not white. If printing on white, you would no print white ink.

Your company has fans of your product? People who would buy a logo shirt like John Deere or Harley? If your "product" is your company's logo on a shirt, don't waste your time. You aren't Nike or John Deere, who all made real products for years before anyone gave a damn about their company logo merch.

No my company old sells T-shirts. I understand what your saying it’s a excellent point. I only would like to make clothing so do you think that I should have a design that is more appealing to people or is it a must that I sell other things? The reasons I ask is because I made this company so that I could bring a new clothing and style to people so that everyone doesn’t have to wear the same things and brand or spend a lot of money on popular brands.

Nice logo art, thanks for the close-up.

You will be selling online or brick-n-mortar in your own community?

If the former, consider that the things that get found and sell online are the things that people actively search for. No one can search for a brand they do not know exists, nor do they want to. People want funny cat shirts or offensive political shirts or shirts that proclaim their affinity with a status brand because that brand has spent millions (or billions) of dollars on marketing.

In order for anyone to give a poop about your brand or my brand, it has to be about something they actually care about ... like their cat or beer ... or their cat drinking beer.

Sure, there have been exceptions. That is why they are called exceptions. For the most part, they built-up some sort of local trend with some local trend setters--like local rappers, or whatever. If you have the access and/or smarts to do that sort of grassroots marketing, go for it.

I would like to sell online and yes everything you’d saying makes sense. My plan is to find a rapper I’m working on to wear my brand also my friend has a movie and video shoot I was gonna put the brand it. I also was going to promote on twitter and other social media while also using my big cartel website link and placing it just about everywhere just to get started. I have been searching for fashion ambassadors to show off my brand on there social media’s as well. Is this a good thing to do or is it now enough marketing that will work? Also I appreciate the responses thank you very much

I can't say what is going to work for you with that sort of marketing, as so much depends on serendipity. I've never even tried that sort of thing, but then my goal has always been to sell cats-drinking-beer shirts, not a brand-name fashion brand. All I can say is learn from your mistakes, as you will certainly be making some, so at least get some good out of them, as you will have paid for them! :)

I would suggest that maybe someone with experience along the lines of what you want to do would chime in ... but not many people have success in launching a brand ... probably the hardest path of the things people come here to do. More, but still not many, have success selling cat shirts, or whatever. The most likely to succeed group on here are the people who open up print shops to print shirts for the likes of you and me (well, except I print my own) and the local fire department and soccer team. Sometimes you'll see pretty conflicting comments in threads because people with these different backgrounds and interests tend to answer questions from the perspective of their business model and interest, and sometime miss the point of the original poster whose actual interest may be something else ... anyway, blathering now. Enjoy

Speaking strictly about design, for the front logo I would go with a one or two color design, probably red and black. From a distance, it looks like holly right now, so I wouldn't use red and green when it's small, otherwise, it looks like a christmas shirt. And on the back, since it's like a hand-drawn, distressed font, the 9's need to all look different, right now it's very obviously a font. Overall, I like the design and good luck! :)

Thank you so much for the comment a color scheme that i did have in mind was gold and black and the words on the back being gold. I have a question about when you said "its obviously a font" is it bad for people to know that?

Black and gold would look great! And it's not bad that anyone would know it's a font, it's that it's a distressed font. With a real worn/distressed screen print, the wear isn't going to be the same on every character like it is on the 9's. Now, I don't think most people are going to notice or care, but it's something to think about

Most of the time when someone starts out with a logo design they lack creativity. Logo designs are hard to sell when you first start out. Yes your family will buy them and yes a printing company will print them as long as you pay but that doesnt mean anything at all.

Get real creative. Pander to peoples beliefs and likes and goals even. Pander to their love for their city (your local area). When you get creative enough you'll make shirts about things you dont like but you like the design enough to wear it yourself. My designs have gotten more complex over the years and ive always created things since a child, we all have design style and growth to achieve. I showed a few designs to a kid and he said nobody would buy those, i scraped them then made way better things ever since and sold a good bit.

Thank you for the advice. I did research and asked around before I made my design how I should go about it. Many people suggested logo and a little something else because it’s my first design it shouldn’t be to much just something to get your name on and put out there then later have complex designs. So do you think I shouldn’t release this shirt? And also do you think the design is just way to simple and wouldn’t survive?

If those drops are supposed to be blood they need to be red. They become unidentifiable in black. Just make the leaves black in the red/green/black logo.

Simple is good. Nothing could be more simple than the Nike swoosh and it is immediately identifiable.

The logo is fine if you're using a POD site to sell your shirts, or outsourcing them to another printer, but if you ever needed to print, say, 100 shirts in HTV, then that small pocket logo would be a nightmare to weed.
