I have decided to go with a Summa T-series plotter, but no I am curious what size people recommend. There is a $2500 price difference between the 30" and the 48". Is it worth the extra money to get this extra width or can you get by on most jobs with the 30" plotter? The way I was explained is that the larger format plotters are for high output sign shops. Is it common to need to cut vinyl larger than 30"? Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on the Summa! That is about the sweetest plotter around.
If you were to ever get, or plan on getting a large 48" format printer, I would go with the 48" model. If all you will be doing is vinyl I would get the 30" model. It's hard to find colored graphic vinyl in 48" wide rolls.

I toadily agree, if your getting a printer..get the widest. Ive been doing signs with a 24" cutter for six years and never needed wider...Even the big semi trailers. (a 48" would be nice...but) unneccesary imo.

I have two older Summa models (cutters) and use the T model 30" most. Good luck on choosing :D
