I have been trying out some new silver foil for heat press.
Only problem is it wont weed.
Have the cutting pressure up to 200g and a new blade in.
The only thing that comes up when i weed is the plastic backing the silver does not lift.
Anybody know what im doing wrong?
TIA.

you mean cut it shiny side up?
i have been cutting it shiny side down so the dull side faces up im using 200g down force and set the machine speed to slow. It cuts through the dull coating but when i try to lift it the silver foil is untouched and i can't separate the design although i can see it.
Got the stuff as a promotional item with no instructions.

the reflective / shiny side is the side with the carrier in normal vinyl it would be the side that goes down and the dull side d the side that should be cut on. doesn't matter how heavy a cut i make it doesn't separate when i weed it. i have ordered new stuff and asked for instruction on how it should be cut ( how many grammes of pressure ) and how to weed it. like i said it was free promo stuff the glitter stuff i got cuts and weeds no bother.

Hi, I used to use this type of vinyl esp the glitter/metalflake type and got the best results using a flock blade.

Just checking but you do realize any pressure setting they might give you are only suggestions? The settings are totally dependent on the depth of the blade - if your blade is set differently than theirs, their settings will only be a starting point. You really need to do test cuts to determine what setting will work on your machine with your current blade settings as well as the particular material.
