Hello everyone, i have been lurking for a little while here before i purchased my cutter. Now that i finally have however im running into some issues!

I'm using a Expert 24 with Illustrator and Greatcut

The problem is that if I create font in Illustrator and then place it into a new document to trace it, once i transfer that traced document to great cut and cut it, it is cutting the same lines upwards of 3 times!

Last trial cut, it cut the same letters 5 times each and ended up ruining the cut. I saw a similar post where someone was having sometimes up to 2 cuts, but this seemed a little bit more extreme than that even.

Anyone have an ideas, is it a cutter setting, greatcut, am I doing text the wrong way in illustrator? Sorry I am new to all of this!

Thanks in advance

I also checked through the outline view and dragged the top image out of the way and didnt see any other images hiding beneath it!

I don't know if Illustrator has a Group / Ungroup but in Corel it's not unusual for an item to be grouped and have multiple objects stacked on each other. You have to ungroup them to separate and delete.

You guys are geniuses! Thats exactly what it was, everything was grouped and stacked together, now i just need to figure out a way to only move 1 layer at a time and I will be golden!

Thanks so much for the combined effort to help the new guy! :D

For me it would depend on the design. I see it often on single color custom text or simple graphics that I've traced.

It winds up with the the design objects and center objects like the two inside sections of a capital letter "B" or an open section of the graphic. In those cases I just click and delete the inner sections one at a time.

Multi colors get a little more difficult.

Just wanted to make a quick post with an update...

Just got back to the office and set up everything using all the information you guys had for me, and everything worked flawlessly!

Perfect depth, no repeat cuts, group just right and everything crisp!

Thank you all so much!:D
