Just curious how most screen printers handle payment with suppliers like Sanmar, Alpha, and S&S, etc.

Do you pay COD or terms, or use a credit card?

We pay for everything as we order it but lately have gotten a bunch of consecutive orders from schools who only pay with PO's. So we don't get the 50% deposit and therefore we are putting our own money up front to cover the costs.

If you have the discipline to pay of the balance as soon as you get payment from the customer then credit cards are a good way to go. You end up paying no interest if you pay promptly, you are not using your own money and your credit rating goes up.

If you are not disiplined enough to pay the card balance then find another payment method.

COD comes with a surcharge so that should be your last option.

If paying with credit/debit cards upfront for purchase orders puts you in a bind, use terms.

With our regular supplier we do bank transfers for payment. We get the best price this way.

Suppliers we dont use as often we us credit cards and pay the balance right away.

Yes! Use a business credit card, pay it off monthly and earn points.

After about a year we applied for and got Net with just about everyone. Once you get one the rest fall in line. They want your business.
