Hi guys, I just had my first T -shirts printed with a local ScreenPrinter. The T-shirts are Hanes HeavyWeight 50/50. I am from the Tropics (Puerto Rico). Would there be an advantage of using 50% poly/ 50% cotton vs 100% cotton given our Hot climate. Is there an advantage in terms of color durability?

Thanks, Attract.

It depends on the polyester used. There are advanced polyesters that wick moisture and are better than cotton. But basic polyesters (like are used in most 50/50s) don't breathe as well as natural fibres.

Personally I haven't really noticed a difference, but some people apparently do.

The poly blend is a little more durable.

Feed back from my customers especially schools, like 50/50 poly cotton shirts because they don't want shrinkage when the shirts are washed. 100% cotton shirts will always be a cooler shirt to wear in a hot climate. Poly Cotton t shirts will usually hold their color better than 100% cotton.
