The link has the PDF file on how to distress in different platforms. It also include 2 distress filter files. It is very simple procedure. Did the attached photo in less than 5 minutes. Courtesy of Scot Fresner of http://t-biznetwork.com

The second photo I doubled up a second filter of first filter then reversed it vertically. Puts out real distress to the text. You can do just about any combination of duplicate filter like reverse it horizontally or skew it etc. to get cool effects. The third is flipped horizontally and vertically. The last one is skewed of the filter in the third photo.

can't you just use a distressed brush/background as a subtract function?
There is always more than one way to skin the cat. I am not aware of distress brush in CorelDRAW. I started from V3. Upgraded each time a new version is out up X8 but did not notice distress brush and subtract function. I must admit though I hardly use brush. Besides it would be time consuming to draw distress on object(s). I prefer the distress mask or filter because it is easy to use, repeatable and they are free online.

Can you point out the tools and functions you are referring. Maybe others maybe interested. Post photos of distressed object using your method if you have them.

i just use a distressed pattern for vectors (see pics) and 'subtract'

but for raster there are distressed brushes out there, like these
But those were done with DrawPlus. The OP was asking for CorelDRAW. Like I said I am not aware of distress brush in CorelDRAW and subtract function. Unless you have to create one. Not sure how it is done in CD.

well, drawplus and xara xtreme,
two different programs (illy has it as well, pathfinder - minus front)

i've never seen a graphics program that did not have that function
even inkscape has it (path-difference) maybe it might be worth it to download for this particular function

Well yes Minus Front is in CorelDRAW. So is one of my favorite Intersect. I don't use Minus Front. Thanks.

Incidentally the masking I did had flaws in it if printed on dark shirt with CMYW printer. The printer will see the white outlines including outside the text and print it as well. So I use Intersect to remove the outlines outside the text.

Minus Front will not work with vector against bitmap or visa versa. CorelDraw will crash. I used TIFF for mask and vector for the text. So I used Intersect to knock out the unwanted mask around the text.

I noticed the the outlines outside the text when I place a background color. Of course it can be hidden by making the color of the outlines the same as the background. But what if the distressed text alone without the background color is printed?

The first photo shows what the image looks like with background color. The second is after intersect. The last I change the outline color to much the background color. If I am going to print it on the shirt with laser printer I will match the filter outline to the color of the shirt.
