Conveyor dryer (Black Body Little Buddy)

8522 Views 12 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  tpitman
I've been screen printing for about 4 months now and have have been using a flash dryer to cure shirts. I've been interested in a conveyor dryer but not really sure which one to get, looking to spend about $2,500. So far all signs are pointing to the black body little buddy 240v. Anybody have any experience with this item? Anything suggestions would help.

Thanks

We have one.....love it....although we are now onto bigger dryers we still use this one if the big dryer goes down. We have the 240....but we also bought the 110 top that fits on the belt too....so you can basically interchange them....we use the 110 for on site printing in case 240 isnt available....good luck
How does the Little Buddy compare to this unit by Home Based Equipment:

HBE 5ft Conveyor Dryer 2000w [HBECD5] - $1,515.00 : Atlas Screen Supply Company

The Home Based unit does not appear to have a variable speed belt control but it comes with a 5 yr warranty and its a smokin deal.

I've got that one and it's been great!
No complaints.
I bought it slightly used a couple of years ago.
I am completely happy with my Little Buddy. I can tell you that as my skills as a printer increases, I can print faster than it can dry. My last job I slowed my pace of print a 4 color job to match the dryer. Not an issue as long as it's just me printing, but if my business continues to grow and I start hiring to cover workload, I won't want then waiting for the dryer.

Bottom line price performer.
I love my Little Buddy it is the perfect size for my garage based business..I stole mine when I paid only $500 for it...
Checked out the HBE one, that may be more suited for me since I have a smaller setup. Though I like the extra options the little buddy gives (heat control, belt speed). Either way, thanks everybody for your input. Got a feeling this forum is gonna help me in the future!
I started my business in 1998 with a Little Buddy Dryer. It was one of the greatest investments for my business. I would highly recommend it.
It's not a bad dryer and you'll definitely like it better then using a flash to cure shirts. It works well, but my problem with it is that the belt width and in-feed length are too small. Might not be a big deal to some, but if you're doing large prints or shirts or hoodies then loading them on the dryer can be a pain. I would recommend upping your budget a little and getting the next grade up that BBC offers (EconoCure 6100 Watt 8 Foot Conveyor Dryer (24" Wide) by BBC). Add a temp control and you're life will become a lot easier.

Can you please tell me how the HBE Dryer is holding up if you bought it. Is it a good choice? I can't find any info on the company online.

Thanks.
I'd get the Little Buddy before I'd get the other. You also might want to check Vastex dryers. Long warranty, and they start in the price range you're looking for.
I bought the Vastex DB-30 and I am very happy. I have already done some heavy work jackets and it was great to have the extra width on the belt. Since this is the only dryer I have owned I can not compare it to the other dryers but the Vastex is great!

One of the nice things about the Vastex dryers is that they're expandable as your needs grow. I don't have one of their conveyor dryers, but I've got a large flash of theirs and an 8-color V-2000HD press, and their stuff is all top-shelf.
