Computer upgrade help ?

ok so I use colredraw x5 and often I have a problem with it just not wanting to do what I want it to, so besides the normal problems with x5 I was wondering if it could be my computer ? the graphics card is built into the mother board but I think I can change it out, if so do you think that changing it would help " speed up " things ?? here is a link to the specs of my computer HP Pavilion Slimline s5100 Desktop PC series*-* HP Pavilion Slimline s5-1020 Desktop PC Product Specifications - c02866366 - HP Business Support Center

Thanks Danny

The reason I ask is that I use Corel on my windows 7, 9 gigs of ram, 1 tb of memory and I have problems sometimes with Corel, just wondering if you were having the same problems as I am
it just seems slow sometimes, kinda hard to explain. simple things like trying to select something sometimes it takes what seems like way too long to actualy select it and then when I try to do something with it like enlarge it or drag it it just realy "lags" ....
Gotcha, that's not my problem, but it sounds like in your case it may be the lack of memory
so going off the specs in the link that I posted what should I do ? or is there anything I can do to help speed things up ?
You can never have much ram.

However with the ram it says you have and the 1TB of memory you should be able to Handel Corel fine.

Do you keep your computer clean? As in a good amount of memory and pc tuneups?
That could be another problem. Im not sure what to do there either. I've looked to do cleanup and done it but not sure what else I should be doing ?
Looking at your specs, the processor seems fine, but only 4 gigs of ram really isn't much. My old computer with its 4 gigs of ram performed poorly with illustrator and would run out of ram and crash often. But cleaning the computer often helped a bit.

your hardware seems more than adequate

majorgeeks.com is a great resource to help you tune your pc....

get rid of bloatware, possible spyware that is slowing your system down

as a rule of thumb... open "task manager" and see how many processes you are running.... I have 56 on a laptop running a DTG printer while surfing these forums and listening to Pandora.... photoshop CS5 is running in the background...

if you get stuck pm me

regards

When is the last time you whiped your hard drive and completely reinstalled everything? I do this about once every 3 to 6 months. If it is years give that a try.

Have installed Service Pack 3 for CorelDRAW X5?

And I hate to say it but CorelDRAW X5 is buggy try downloading the X6 trial and see if your performance is better. If so perhaps upgrading draw is the way to go.
I don't think 4GB is all that low. You want to make sure your computer is clean of viruses and malware as well as optimized before you give up and upgrade it or buy a new system.

Malwarebytes is my go-to for computer cleanup. Download it from FileHippo, not cnet/download.com (which has a "special installer" wrapped around the main installer which is halfway to malware itself). Always right-click and "run as administrator" whenever you use it, even if you have UAC disabled. Best to run in safe mode, under your account (not Administrator) if you can.

If you don't have an antivirus, AVG, Avast, and Avira are free. Also, some of the "major name" antivirus software sold in big box/office stores tends to use up so many resources that they slow down the computer just as bad as a virus does.

Remember that if a virus or malware has damaged core computer files, a cleaner can damage your system. I rarely, if ever, see this actually happen, but remember: use at your own risk. If you're not comfortable, find your local "computer geek". Don't go to a big box store or an office supply store, their "free tune-ups tend to turn into $150 or higher bills very very quickly, and their usual response is "format the computer and start over from scratch", which is hardly a good idea in most cases.

what i would recommend you is add a GPU (graphic card) on board video usually sucks and uses you're internal memory as of separate video witch they use theyre own memory.
and also use a solid state drive as you're main operating system and only use the 1tb hard drive as a secondary(for storage)
solid state drives are super fast compared to regular hard drives and performance wise you will totally see the change.
one thing is hard to identify is what processor are you using?(pentium, dual core,etc....)
thanks for all your help I've tired to see if X6 made any diffrence and it's still slow maby a bit better but not good. I'll need to look into the clean up process a little more I guess, and as for the processor this is the info from the page I linked ?

Your system seems fine.

I agree with Fenrir, check your system for spyware, maleware or viruses? Also, if you save your work to the desktop, the more you save, the slower your system will be.
