Colour fades away after 1 wash - Du Pont ink

2324 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  kostaspolyprint
Hello,
We have been experiencing problems with printing on colour/black t-shirts receantly - our customers keep coming back saying that colour faded away after 1st wash. White base stays nad it's ok but colour just goes away. It was not happening earlier and we're a bit confused about that. We use Du pont inks and pretreatment. Can anyone experienced such a problem?

Hi, my gut feeling on this could be that the pre-treatment phase is letting you down. Are you covering with a Wagner spray gun evenly coating the t-shirt from 15cm, then heat pressing for 30 seconds at over 160 degrees ?

If you are doing this, then try extending the heat curing (after print) to 2 mins and 30 second (150 seconds) at 165-170.

After all this if no joy, do all your weekly maintenance and then run a Power Clean through.

I had the same problem, and after doing all the above Amaya (UK) have had to come out to flush through my print head, and then tell me that I need a new print head, ink transfer system and capping station at over £1400.

Try the above steps first as it might be solvable.

Clues are in your Nozzle Check print pattern after Quick Clean, if the boxes aren't all full (particularly the white ones) and the lines they makes are in random positions chances are you have dried nozzles.

Hello,

If after the print job, the quality you get is fine then there is no need to run any cleanings at all. This will indicate that something is wrong either in the pre-treatment or the fixation process. Make sure you are using enough precoating liquid (but not too much) and make sure that you leave it under the heatpress for at least 30-40'' so that the water gets evaporated. Don't forget to roll the fibers down (movements in one direction only).
In the fixation process, make sure that the settings are correct (165 C for 3' minutes at least - the longer the better) and that the pressure of the heat press is set in the value of 2 or 3 (in a scale of ten as maxumim pressure).
Try a different brand of t-shirt to check for differences there also.
