Hello Pro World

We have bought a used pro world heat press. After buying and using the ir reader we have found out that it will not heat up to 380. stays around 365 in the middle and 350 and lower on the back of the plate and the sides.

My question is Is there a way to fix this problem Cheap.

I just want other newbies to the T shirt business to watch what you buy. I found this Pro World press on a local sales network They sold it to us for $400.00 saying that they had paid $1,000.00 for it. The description said that it was a 15x15 and it was industrial heat press.
I am really upset as I am typing this because I feel like such a fool. They were the nicest people you would want to meet. We did plug it up to make sure it would heat up, but didn't know to use a ir reader to make sure it heated up right.

Thank you Pro World Tect if you could help with this problem.

When I ask her what kind it was she said she wasn't sure. Then when I mentioned a brand, she said yes that is what it is. We drove for two hours to meet them in KY. My cell phone wasn't getting a good signal so I couldn't check the brand/price out on the internet.

I'm just saying if you buy used be careful. I have been on the internet from the 90's and I should have known better.

I have talked with Pro World and they are trying to help us with a new circuit board.

Thank you Pro World Inc.
Hey, live and learn.

Funny, I just saw a 6/4 press in a classified. No name brand. Basic description. Picture. Said it was $9000 new. JUST THE PRESS!

Please

Yes that is what my motto is "live and learn" although I really hate the expensive lessons the worst
your machine is only short by 20 to 35 degrees. not a big problem at all.

you can compensate by making the pressing time longer... say from 17 seconds... do it to 24 seconds (or something like that).
i know most transfer papers require 360-370.....and some vinyl transfer too. i am pretty sure your machine can do that job.

See I am a real newbie I hadn't even thought about that because I was told that if we left it longer then 10 seconds it would burn.

Dan is right...sort of. A lot of transfers (of which there are MANY types) allow some room dwell time/temperature wise. Some leave less to little margin. It depends on the material receiving the transfer as well as the transfer type. The manufacturer suggestions are just that but should be followed as closely as possible. I believe a press short by 20-35 degrees leaves too much to room for failure and compensating by increasing dwell time even more so. Can work but you shouldn't have to deal with it. Even, uniform temperature is king and on a good press shouldn't vary by more than a few degrees.

They probably paid $399. Have you tried increasing the temperature as suggested? This an older model.
I forgot to mention. This appears to be a 16x20 model.

Just went and measured it. the outside plate was 16x15
inside was 15X15

We have turned up the heat to 390, but there are a lot of spots on it that are 370, 360, 350.
Then they only paid a max of $299, maybe $169 on a special that we were offering. You did speak to our technician?
They sold it to us for $400.00 saying that they had paid $1,000.00 for it.
You know it's probably better left alone, but I'd be soooo inclined to at least let the seller know that I know I got jacked and what the press really was new.

And maybe not with such an accusatory tone:

"Hey this is Edie. I bought the press from you. Just want to give you a head ups that whomever you bought the press from you may want to be very careful about dealing with them. I found out the most it would've cost new is $XXX. Too bad there are so many dishonest people in the world. Anyway, Best wishes!"

The real kicker is that they may have gotten jacked themselves by trusting someone and actually paid $K.
