I'm currently working on the preparation of new camouflage pattern that is eventually going to be applied to fabric via heat transfer. But before that happens, and in order to mass print the pattern on fabric, it has to be color separated.

Evidently the printer in China needs to have the pattern broken down into an 8-color separation in order to "roller print" the pattern onto the heat transfer paper. Now I know this can be achieved digitally, but only for smaller applications.

The printer(s) in China say they don't have the ability to do the separations. So here I am, calling on all my HT buddies to see if you can hopefully lead me to a solution with getting the color separations completed.

My core belief is that if anyone other than the printer themselves performs the separations, they will be done incorrectly anyways and will result in many revisions prior to even getting to press. Any of you have this experience or advice on where to turn from here?

thx

?????China????? You have to go to China to find a printer?
There are a number of professional artists capable of doing color separations on the other board (The Shirt Board). Expect to pay professional prices to get that kind of separations done. God Bless.

Yes, China! This is not a t-shirt print we're talking about. This is Johnny-Big Time printing with hundreds upon thousands of yards of fabric being printed. It's typical to have the printer that's RIPping the files for print to also take care of the color separations, but evidently I created a monster of a file that they don't want to touch. So here I sit dead in the water.

And we do expect to pay "professional" rates IF they're actually capable of doing the work. So far I've had one person here in the states decline to want to work on it.

Thank you for the blessing, I may need it.
