Hello everyone,
I am researching the heat transfer and vinyl cut tee shirt business. I have seen a lot posted about the cobraink cis system for the wf1100 epson printer. But I may be a little dense on understanding what it really is. The way it was described, you refil the carts. with the syringes they supply. But the picture on their site shows tanks on side of printer. Does this mean you fill the tanks and the ink flows from the tanks to the carts? Does that mean you have the surgical tubing going back and forth when printing? If so, is there a system available where you refil the carts. directly and eliminate the tubing. The tubing flopping around so much kind of scares me in that if one ever came loose it would be a disaster. Thanks for your help, as you can see I am a newbie.

You can do either it depends on how much printing your gonna do you could do that internal cis... Which eliminates dust from clogging the printer... but I use refill carts just because Im gonna up grade my printer soon... But I like them... Its up to you... But either way with pigment ink you have to make sure you print like every week or it will clogg

Not yet. The more I research the business the more confused I get. Now it seems using a color laser printer with the joto trimfree paper may be the way of the future in heat transfers. The no weeding seems like it opens up a whole new way for the business. If it works as good as they claim and has that silkscreen soft hand then you would think you could compete equally with screen printers on jobs of a couple hundred shirts. With this paper you could give customer many colors that a screen printer could not compete with. Anybody using this paper have any thoughts on this?

You are talking two different systems. The CIS for the Epson 1100 with Cobra is for light or pastel garments only. The laser printer with the "weed free" paper is for dark garments. I do not do dark and have an 1100 with Cobra CIS and love it. As far as I'm conserned, it matches screen printing. You will never come close with laser printing on opaque paper on dark garments. They have a heavy plastic hand. This is my opinion only.

^Have you used your Epson 1100 with any of the dark papers?

I just ordered my Cobra system and ordered some sample packs of papers. I'm exited *jumps for joy*

I'm not quite ready to jump into laser. I'll try the inkjet for a while and see how sales go.

It seems like it's going to be a great addition for one-of's to my embroidery business (we outsourcr our screen printing right now, but that's next on the table).

I purchased the cobraink.com Epson1100 with built-in CIS. There isn't a problem with the ubing at all, and everything you need to touch is accessible, with everything else within the case. The ink system is really good, and everything works right out of the box. Also, I called the company a few times for various reasons, and got incredibly good service. They were amiable, and I didn't feel rushed. If you have a question, the guy will step you through everything. He is obviously very knowledgable, and although I didn't know basic things, he was very honoring in the way that he handled my questions. I wouldn't hesitate with the system. Yes, the 1100 JPSS paper combo is for light colored tees, only. 3G paper is for dark tees, but it isn't self-weeding, which mean that the background of the image will be white, unless you cut out the remaining substrate.

I hope that helps! God bless,
Carole
