I've been using Illustrator for quite a few years now and never knew about this tool. It's available in versions CS3+

Thanks for posting this. It took me down a whole new path of discovery. Funny how that happens. From the Illustrator tutorial, which was good, I went on to about 10 other sites and pieces of information. All of which will be put to good use. LOL

In Photoshop, if you know the CMYK values you can also get the closest spot color using the color picker.

Click your color chip
in the color picker click the "Color Libraries button"
Select the color library of your choice from the dropdown
Photoshop will automatically select the closest match for you.
