I've decided to do vinyl printing for some designs on tees, tanks and hoodies. But I have 0 clue of the right printer and paper needed. Will I need a plotter or can I cut them out myself? And what printer & paper do you recommend? I think I'll be using a powerpress heat press (the one with the clamp).

Also, how can I prevent a white border on my designs when pressed on darker colours?

Either you are confused or I am! A vinyl printer is on that will print directly on the vinyl and no paper involved. Normally that done with a print cut unit or print and then use a separate unit to contour cut, otherwise you have trim by hand. A lot of us use a vinyl cutter to cut a design and weed out the parts we don't want. This procedure is good for one or two colors. If got are using paper a lot will use JPSS transfer paper and either contour cut or trim by hand. For dark colors you will need an opaque paper but this not the best as it leaves a heavy hand
