child's platen

Hi,
I know I don't post much. I do have a general question.
I have a HM1 with white ink. I want to use the child's platen but I'm not sure how. Sounds stupid I know. But.....When the platen is placed on the machine and load is hit, the head moves to the same place as the full size platen. Will I have to set the spacing in the Rip, measuring from the outside of the skid to where the print will be? Did that make sense? or is there a setting in the rip I haven't found yet?
thanks for any input

You should be able to set you canvas size in your RIP, some have the platen sizes already built in to your options.

Maybe tell us which RIP ver# your using and someone can tell you where the settings are.

Hope this helps.

that would make sense to know what I'm using... the RIP is DTG Pro V04. I go through Photoshop to the RIP
I'll check out the sizes when I get a chance as well.. thanks for the tip..
One way to consistently place an item on the smaller platens is to set up a template file in your design software and do some test prints to determine the center point on the actual platen and then place a crosshair there in your template (it may take a few test prints to determine this). Then make the edges of your platen on the bed of the printer with a marker so you place the platen in the same place each time. Simply import the graphic into you template, center on the crosshairs and print.

Hope this helps.
