CE6000-60Plus Cutting slow

5147 Views 22 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Jamey
Hi,
I searched the forum and couldn't find anything on this, sorry if it's been talked about before.

My new CE-6000-60Plus is cutting everything I send to it, but it seems to be cutting very slow. Like, 20 min for basic designs (about 5) on a 12" sheet. Tangential is turned off, tried resetting the machine to factory settings, still cutting slow.

Could be a possible buffer problem? I have no idea. I've included a video I uploaded to YouTube to try to get some help.

https://youtu.be/Ou6I3gkCIxA

Again, it's cutting the design just fine, just takes forever to get stuff done.

Thanks for your help!

did you reset to default by holding the up arrow then switching on?

that was a very calming video,
like watching fish in an aquarium

i feel sleepy now....

Yes, I reset it by that method. It just seems like its stopping more often than other videos I've seen of the same machine cutting vinyl...
unfortunately i do not have this machine

but if you did the reset and checked your speeds, then it sounds like an error in your computer/program/wiring

try a re-install of your cutting software, and/or install your software on a different machine and see if the problem persists
also try a different cable connector, could be as simple as a loose/fried wire
if it is a usb connector, try a different port
I tried another port, but i didn't try a different cable. I'll try that when I get home tomorrow.

I guess I could uninstall and reinstall the plugin also, I'm cutting straight from Illustrator with the Cutting Master 4 plugin. Has anyone else had any problems with the plugin and cutting speed?

Am I just tripping out and that's the speed that this thing cuts at? It's my first plotter so I have nothing to gauge it from. It just seems really slow...

Thanks for your replies!
can you take a screen shot of your settings and post them here ('Go Advanced' button, then 'Manage Attachments')?

in the manual they mention 2 speed variables,
maybe one of these is out of whack

pick-up a decent sized sledge-hammer on the way home
don't hit it, just put it beside it
then it knows you are not fooling around

I can't find the "go advanced" button you are talking about. Are you referencing the machine itself or the plugin on the computer?

thanks!
it is right beside the 'Post Quick Reply' button

then scroll down to mange attachments, browse, add files then close window

I had the same problem with mine when I first got it. Turns out I was exporting my artwork in the wrong file type.
I was exporting as .dxf, which is a cad format. It was taking 20 mins to cut two lines of text. As soon as I changed to .eps things got back to normal speed.

Try playing around with the file type you are using to send your artwork to the graptec cutter until you find one that works best for you.

I'm just using the Illustrator plugin, and under my CM4 window, it says the file type is "FS Document".

Do you know where that option to change the file type would be located on the CM4 plugin?

Thanks!
I don't have Illustrator, so I don't use the plugin.
Why don't you try a few designs without using the plugin? Export the design as a 72dpi .eps and re-open in Graphtec Studio. If the cutter performs better then you know that you are on the right track, and can work backwards to a solution that works with the plugin.

Wow, exported it and cut it using the Graphtec Studio, cut in about 2 minutes verses the 1 hr it was taking before...

Now I gotta figure out what settings are delaying it in the Plugin, because it's nice to just cut it from Illustrator.
:DIt's a nice feeling when you get the thing working...

If you keep this thread going sooner or later someone who uses the plugin will answer.

I know it is inconvenient, but unless you are doing a lot of designs it doesn't take too long to export and re-open the files in Graphtec Studio. If you stick to 72dpi then your designs will open up the same size as they were when you exported them.

When I save my file to eps, there isn't a place to select the option of dpi, just a drop down that has the different Illustrator generations on it (i.e. CS6, CS5, CS4, etc.)

Where would I change the dpi?

Thanks!
I wouldn't know in Illustrator. In my software I get the option of setting the resolution when I 'Export as Picture' under the file menu.

Hopefully someone who uses the CM4 plugin with Illustrator can see this thread and has some insight on what might be going on with my setup.

I've been searching a ton online and can't find anything on anyone having the same problem. If I figure out anything else, I'll post it here for sure!

I'm just glad I can cut at a normal speed using the Graphtec Studio, even if it's a little inconvenient to go between the programs.

Thanks!
surferkai,
did you see this on graphtec's site?
No, I didn't see that, thanks!

But I got an older version (CS6) but maybe it has to do with something similar as far as the communication between the program and the cutter. I notice it says "Processing" on the cutter info panel when I'm cutting, and it seems to show "processing" more intermittently when I cut from the plugin... But I could be just noticing it selectively and it could be a totally different issue.
i was on the japanese graphtec site and they only list cm3 for the ce6000, not cm4
so i checked the main/eng site and their support download page and their main ce6000 ad-page says the same

are you sure you can use cm4 with the ce6000?

you may have to download cm3 and see if that cures your ills

Ok, that might be a solution, i'll try it. I just assumed since it shipped with CM4 that it would work because if it doesn't work with CS6 and CC, i don't know what other version of Illustrator CM 4 would be for... haha!

I'll try it and let you know if it works. Thanks!
