Re: Brother GT 541

DO NO PRINT ON ANYTHING WITH TEFLON. It'll be a huge mess.

Think about it - the fabric is designed to not absorb anything. Therefore, it won't absorb the ink.

We did it once without realizing we had a teflon coating - it took 1.5 hours just to clean the press.

That's also why we don't print on ANYTHING other than items WE supply.

Re: Brother GT 541

Robin,

Were the aprons teflon coated?? Have you tried to print on anything with the coating. Thanks Barb

We did some shirts that were supplied and they had stain guard, we did not realize it because they were not printing right but then we printed the youth shirts they gave us and they were fine, then we looked at the tag and they were coated. I thought something was wrong with the printhead, luckily it was just a coating:)

no these ones were not coated.

I had printed on a ones that were.....and didnt know it. For what ever reason I took it home and washed it (intuition or what ever you want to call it) The graphic faded so bad, and the apron shrunk so much that I called my customer the next morning and told her what happened. I wouldnt sell it to her, there was no way. So what ever the coating was....that's where the ink sat, and most of it washed out in the wash. As you know, even bleach doesnt get out brother inks once they are set. So I knew something was up. These were 100% cotton too......go figure.

If you print on anything sold in the retail market (instead of the decorator market), you run the risk of the fabric being coated.
The people who cut the fabric like the coating on the stuff so their blades move faster - saves a few pennies production cost.
I do NOT ever print on things brought to me.
