I wanted to put quotes of famous deceased people on my t-shirts (individuals who died within the last 30 years). I know using images of deceased are protected.

I was wondering if anyone knows about quotes of individuals who are deceased. Am I allowed to used such quotes?

Also, how about quotes of individuals who are still alive?

It doesn't matter if the person is alive or dead. It matters whether the quote is trademarked or copyrighted. And even if it's not, it could still be risky if the quote is clearly associated with the person. You need to be careful when attempting to profit off someone else's work without permission. The more generic the quote, where it is not so obviously linked to someone, the better off you would be.
