Can I use a font for my T-shirt design that I found at Dafont.com?

I created my own font via drawing and then scanning into my computer. But when I try to edit it in CS4 it does not resize correctly.
I found a similiar font online. The disclaimer isn't very clear. Also there isn't a direct way to contact the owner of the font.

Should I still use it for my T-shirt design?

Check FontSquirrel, which is specifically for commercial-use fonts. They may have the same font, they may have a better contact info. Or not. This is a problem with the font-use issue, people who release it as personal-use only or without any licensing info, then can't be contacted when someone actually wants to do the right thing and try to pay for its usage.

If the shirt is just for you, I'd say go for it. If it's for commercial use, at least spend a little more time trying to contact the owner so you can definitely say "I tried".

By disclaimer I'm guessing you mean the TXT file that came with the font's ZIP file? If so, go back to the page on dafont.com where you downloaded the font from, they always state what kind of licensing comes with the font (donationware, free, trial, etc.).
Thank you for the info! I want to use the font for commercial purposes. So If I find the font on FontSquirrel I can use it?

FontSquirrel is specifically for commercial use fonts, but you should always double-check the license the font comes with, if available. I have heard people say that they found non-commercial fonts there (which were removed when this was pointed out). So always check to make sure!
If it's shown as "freeware" you can use it for anything. Some are called "shareware" & other names. Use only freeware for commercial use.
