15 mil magnetic cuts great. 30 mil magnetic for vehicles usually needs multiple passes for good cut quality or you can score it and snap it with a single cut. Remember to leave slack on the roll because that stuff is usually really heavy and can cause motor errors.

If your shape isn't complicated and you don't have a lot to do, I would just cut a template out of low-tack vinyl and stick it to the magnet, then cut with a box cutter, than put that stress on the machine. Save it for the complicated ones. Get a set of large steel washers in various sizes as an edge guide to do nice rounded corners with.

Another alternative would be to use a pen/marker tip in the GX24 to draw your design, then cut it by hand...
