I'm thinking of getting an Epson 1430 printer to replace my aged Epson 1400 which has been giving me a lot of troubles. The CIS on the 1400 printer is still working great. Does anyone know if the 1400 CIS will work on 1430 printer? I have just sent out an email to inkjetfly.com support but urgently to know the result if anyone knows from this forum.

Thanks

The biggest problem will be your reset chip bar. Depending on how old it is (and it sounds like you've had it for awhile) the new printer won't accept the aftermarket chips. Everything else should be good though, it uses the same kind of ink (and even if it didn't it still might work, since a lot of Epsons have the same size carts no matter the number on them).

You may want to ask for help with your 1400 or even buy a refurbished one from Epson. A refurbished one will likely have newer firmware and have the same issue with the chip bar, though.

Depending on where you purchased CISS the seller may offer a new chip. Hotzone360 offer them for their ciss @ $6

My 1400 printer has feeding problem, it's been on and off. It wasted lots of paper and time specially when you have a lot to print. It's a pain.

I received the response from Inkjetfly yesterday. They told me the 1400 CIS I purchased from them will work on any 1400 printers on the market. I was planning to get another 1400 but a 1400 printer costs much more than a 1430 printer now. 1400 printer is already phased out by Epson. I decided to get a new 1430 (w/$80 mailing rebate) since the inks are the same between these 2 printers and I like to ink quality I get from the CIS company.

I can't wait to receive the new printer, it's almost end of school year and I got a lot to print for the school I work with.

You may have a surprise. Although they will fit in the new printer epson updated the newer printers to combat the ciss or refillable systems and unless your ciss is fairly new with the new info on the chips you will get the incompatable cartridge message

I purchased the 1400 CIS from Inkjetfly.com. The 1430 CIS uses a different design so I need to get a new one. I still have the 1400 ink left which can be used on my 1430 CIS.

I have the printer profile done for a couple of papers I normally use with their ink (they're free from inkjetfly website), so I probably won't change the ink company, I like the print results.

I purchased the 1430 from Staples a couple of days ago. I haven't taken it out of the box though because of the CIS. If the reset chip is purchased thru Hotzone 360, do you have to use their CIS?

The CISS design is NO diffrence these printers use the exact cartridges and the only diffrence is the chip info. The body of the printer changed as well as the print engine but the head and ink cartridge holders are unchanged from the 1400...

@misslovanu look at you chips on your Ciss and see if they are removeable by moving a plastic tab and see if they look the exact same as the chipsets on hotzone. Some manufactures molded the chips to the cartridges

I haven't purchased the CIS yet. I have issues with my 1100 and clogging issues so decided to purchase the 1430 as a replacement. I'm researching what to buy--- so am I safe to buy a 1400 CIS and make sure the reset chip is removable and able to be replaced by the 1430 reset chip? I plan on going with pigment ink for transfers.

Check with your supplier. I bought a 1400 damper set with chip bar (same thing as a CIS without the bottles... refill in printer) and the supplier said that the chip is new enough that it should work with the 1430. I imagine suppliers would probably try to get rid of all their 1400-only chips first though, and only give out the 1430 ones to customers they know actually have a 1430.

I have used inkjetfly's cis & ink for years. It's a brand name with great support. I trust what they said. However, I'm great I don't need to deal with my 1400 printer. My 1430 is on the way.

I believe you also need to purchase a CIS to go with the chips. You can contact them to make sure. I think all CISs already come with chips. It's not wise to purchase them seperately. In case there is any issue. Actually if you purchase CIS and inks together, you don't pay much on the CIS. Good luck.
