I have a black and white image my artist created for me. I want to add color to certain parts so I can print it to set my screens up. They are just spot colors filled into some of the white parts of the image. I create a new layer and pick the part of the vector i want to color and try to send it to that new layer but its not working. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Can't say for sure without seeing the file, but it sounds like maybe you need to release a compound path or something. PM me if you want me to take a look at it and I'll send you my email address.

Change the image from grayscale to a color format.

I did it in CMYK.
