This is not a just bought, can't get to work question, lol.

I have been using this cutter for a while now, and finally am irritated enough to ask for help. This machine refuses to cut the first inch or so if the design. The head does not drop right away. After it decides to play nice, it cuts beautifully. I have been adding a couple small boxes for it to cut before it starts the design as a work around. If I forget, I go back to origin and start the cut again, and then pause it after it cuts what it missed. I forget a lot...and am sick of wasting vinyl, and banging my head against the wall. This damn thing has a lot of life left, I think. Also, I'm cutting direct from CorelDraw on windows 7 using a gx-24 driver.

I went through the same thing with our Camm1 960 when we went to Windows 7. I was not going to toss the old plotter, its a workhorse that cuts players names every day.

I installed CutStudio, then I just copy and paste from Corel to Cut Studio and all is well.

If there is a better fix I couldn't find it but this works great and was relatively inexpensive.

I would suggest the same thing Mark did, get yourself a copy of CutStudio and cut from there. I cut from CorelX4 in Windows 7 to an old CM-300 using CutStudio without issue...oh I do get a message on the cutter but it cuts everything without a problem.

OH...wait I just thought of something. Are you doing the mirroring of the design on screen or in the driver? If you are doing it in the driver don’t it will really mess things up. Mirror the design on the screen in Corel. You didn’t say what version of Corel you were using, I haven’t cut anything from Corel X6 yet so I don’t know if that would cause other issues.

I am using x5. I've never tried cutstudio. I couldn't figure out why to add another step. If it solves my problem, I'm all for it. Now, assuming you meant rotating instead of mirroring, yes, I do let the driver do that for me. Oh, and I also get the error everytime, but I understand its normal under these circumstances. Thanks so much for your time, like liberty said, they are awesome machines. They dont build em like they used to, well, not for $200 they dont. ;)

I assumed you were cutting material that needs to be reversed to be applied. When you cut this material it needs to be mirrored to be the right way when applied. You will need to do this on screen.
I would not rotate the design in the drive either! I would set the design up on the page the same way it will cut in the cutter. If you cutter is rotated then rotate the page on screen and not in the driver. The only thing I would set in the driver would be the area you are cutting in.
I highly recommend getting Cut Studio it sells for around $70 and is well worth not having the aggravation of cutting issue. It will also let you cut by color so it saves time when doing multi color cuts.

Yes, Rolands are very good cutters...got mine for $100 from someone who just didn't want it any more! Right place, right time.

I also have a Camm1 960!
I currently use it with XP without problems.
But, Having been left behind by technology before.. I would like to ask..
Specifically how the Heck did you get your 960 to work with win7??
Cut studio is not a problem for me. Just getting the cutter to cut.
I tried using the GX24 drivers... Very close.. but No Cigar.
Thanks in advance

Are you using serial or parallel? I believe I was only able to get it to.work using a parallel cable. The machine is in the other room if you have any questions about my settings. While I have a 1000 I'm sure the settings are similar.

Hi; I have only ever used parallel. Serial never did work for me...I just need to know what driver you used I believe..
Thanks for the reply.
