Cad-Printz from Stahls

We previously screenprinted this design but they wanted photo-like quality so I ordered some digital transfers from Stahls. This is only my third time ordering digital transfers, first time from Transfer Express, but I have to say, the quality and hand far exceeded my expectations. Stahl's customer service is outstanding.

I forgot to mention, my office where I usually press had to be cleared out because we discovered termites so I'm temporarily pressing in the dining room atop side-table from the deck. Just in case anyone was wondering if I work that way all the time. Although I'm starting to like the little table. Even though I have to bend over a bit, I can see the shirt better and have great leverage on the press.
how much do those transfers cost? how much more per/shirt would you have to charge?
I just pressed some customer supplied Cad Printz from Transfer Express on customer supplied shirts. I, too, was impressed with the quality and feel of the print.

They are not cheap but you'll have to contact them for pricing. I think it was by square foot. I charge for labor so marrk up was the same as for any transfer.

Small transfers (less than 20 sq. in.) in small quantities (less than 24 pieces) 13 cents a square inch.....
Large transfers (larger than 65 sq. in.) in large quantities (500+ pieces) 4 cents per square inch...
Thanks for the info. They are a little pricey but they really look good in the videos.

I love Transfer Express/Stahls. But, I ordered the CAD-Prints several (2?) years ago and hated them. They felt so plastic-y on the shirt. The colors were great but the hand was awful.

Perhaps Stahls has perfected their techniques since I last ordered?
I need to go back through their site but its a little confusing. All different types of prices.

Then they have all different types of transfers like goof proof ones etc.

If I'm doing a multi-color design. Say a 14x16 print, what would 50 of those transfers cost?
13.44 each...At that size & quantity I would probably look at F&M Expressions freedom transfers...

They are plastic, ink printed on a vinyl carrier but they are no worse than tshirt viny which is fairly soft for what is. If you want a full color transfer with no hand you are limited to white shirts and either sublimation, or ink jet transfer for lights which has a much shorter lifespan.

I cannot find Cad-Printz on Stahls site but I bought and tried their Express Print and I like it. $1.71 per sq. foot.

CAD-Printz come in many material types. The Opaque CAD-Printz are by far the softest for dark fabrics, however the Express Print CAD-Printz are considered by most to be soft as well and by far the most popular.

The softest depends a lot of what you are applying it to and the size of your design. A large "patch like" design on a thin cotton t-shirt is going to feel the worst. Designing with open spaces in the design is going to yield a much nicer finish. Also picking a heavier weight t-shirt will help. Most agree that these feel awesome on items such as denier poly or nylon jackets and bags, pique polos, jackets, neoprene koozies, performance wear etc.

The product is awesome for a lot of applications but I would say its not a "full front" t-shirt technology.

Hope this helps...

Yup, that's pretty much what I used and it feels awful. I realize now that it's because the shirt -- where the full front design is -- cannot breathe.

If it were a pocket design, I doubt I would notice it. I'm not sure if it were on a sweatshirt; I used this technology on a cotton tee.
@josh: We can use the CAD-Printz with open (weeded) spaces? That would certainly help with the hand.

That's a nice design! How is the hand -- especially at the bottom (Blue Ridge)? What does it feel like when you crumple it?
Well I am going to look for another brand after doing a couple of shirts last night.
Both shirts had small text and the weeding was a nightmare.
This Express Print just isn't sticky enough like Easyweed.
Think I will look at Imprintables materials next.

Most print/cut materials do not feature a sticky backing like the standard heat transfer films - can't think of a brand that does right now? Small text is particularly difficult and usually accommodated by masking the design first after printing and cutting then reverse weeding, so you are against the sticky backing of the mask.

Here is the page for Cad-Printz at Stahls: CAD-PRINTZ Full Color Digital Services
Here is what I had such a hard time with. The text was tough to weed but I was told that I need to weed it while its stuck to the magic mask. Will try that next time.

This is a photo took back in the '50's and I added a frame with the text. My first experence with Express Print. Would recommend.
