I'm tring to get set up.
I have a graphtec fc4100-75
dell xps windows xp
illustr.cs4

from what i understand so far i need
software
driver
and a cable serial 25pin

1]the cable , i'm not sure what connection to use for the computer

2]the driver i hope i can down load

3]software, someone said they would help me with, we'll see , so far all talk no help.

If anyone can help that would be really cool

No problem.
A friend of mine uses the Stika SX-12 which also only has a serial port and a pc with no serial port so he had to do the same thing.

i looked at the site and was wondering , my plotter has a female rs232c on it and the cable they sell is a db25.

would this be the same [db25] and [rs232]
they kinda look the same but i don't tech.. know.

Mine has a 9-pin RS-232 serial port, I have an adapter to db25

Dave, I'm not putting you down here, but once I discovered monoprice I have not looked back. I have gotten all kinds of cable from them including ethernet, usb, hdmi and audio RCA and have yet to be let down. I see no need to spend $40 on a cable when $4 does the job with quality to spare.

and your machine has db25 connection ?
hope i understand that correctly.

my com has usb
and my machine has rs232 25pin

the site only showed db25 connecters
and rs232 9pin
but no rs232 25pin connectors

rs232 25pin and db25 are different aren't they

i like the price and will buy one if i know i'm getting the right cable.
check my latest post , i'm worried about , rs232 25pin serial [ which is what i have]
and on the web site it lists db25 , their not the same and i'm not seeing any thing
that is listing usb to rs232 25pin serial. I'm not sure were this leaves me.

IIRC, DB25 is just the name and type of pin connector. I would give it a shot.

No problem, it's just the one that worked for me, I think I paid c.£15 or so? The cheap generic that I tried left loads of ports on my machine and couldn't be found half the time. that's probably the software & drivers rather than the kit, but it's quite important.
