Is the Mod 1 & ink considered made in the U.S.A.?
If so, then I guess it would come under Nafta rules so there should be no importing duties to Canada on the printer & supplies.
Am I right on this or not?

Yes, these are made in America.

As for Nafta, I don't know but would have to check it out. When I sell smaller items and ship to Canada, there are still duties paid. I'll find out for you and let you know.

Yes, it does appear that duties will be applied. I was told anything that isn't a gift will get duties added. If you are interested, send me a PM with your email address and I can get you an official quote with duties and shipping added.
duty free, tax only
This statement confuses me. Unless I'm completely off, the duty is a tax. Duty free means no taxes. Can you clarify what you mean?
Canada has both GST and PST (General Sales Tax and Provincial Sales Tax) that is collected on the items, there is not a tariff per say for the import of the item (above the GST, PST - which is paid on all items).
I always charge what USPS tells me to charge! I sent some info to Belquette to get back to me with actual numbers. Thanks Don for the clarification.

Duty is the tariff.
GST is and PST are the taxes.
If it's NAFTA there is no tariff but you pay the sales taxes the same as you would on any other other similar products in the country.

Well confusion is easy with all of these different tariffs and taxes! The good thing is, Mark from Belquette is originally Canadian! Plus I'm sure they've done this before (selling machines across the border), just not me with big ticket items like this.

GST = Goods and Service tax. Not a General sales tax.
FYI:)
You will pay federal and provincial tax at your own provinces rate.
Expect to also pay a hefty brokerage fee unless you drive to the border and clear the item yourself.
When we received our machine in Montreal, I chose to clear it through customs myself, because the fee was going to be pretty hefty.

Ordering smaller supplies still incurs a pretty high broker fee, but time is also money, so I've just been paying the broker fee of late.

Not ideal, a Canadian distributor for inks would be amazing...wink wink
Well I have 50 acres a sports store and 2 big buildings, I'm a workaholic with 3 busnesses now, why not add DTG and accessories distributor ;>) .
It's not for the money.. I am just feeding my A.D.D.

This duty can be many thousands and throws a wrench in my plan.
Trying to find info on RIP Software with these DTG's as it is important and I don't see a lot.
Just print quality, company service quality, ink cost, etc..
what about the all important rip software ?

Reliablity
ease of use.. KISS
requires or not PC Connection (or USB)

Are they all so similar that it is non issue for discussion?

Ottawa Ontario Canada... and no trade shows in this city in the near future that I know of.
